Yummy, yummy food

I will start off by saying that I have been eating far too many chocolate croissants. They are divine when you buy them from the right cafe. One of my favorites comes from Resso, a coffee shop down the road.

Another delicious thing to try in Copenhagen is kanelsnegle, or as you may know them by, cinnamon rolls. I got this one from a place called Emmerys, accompanied by a scrumptious cappuccino. Emmerys is (thankfully) right by my classes, so I can go back and get another one of these babies whenever I want.

I have also fallen in love with "mørk pålægschokolade." They are these thin little wafers of chocolate, so thin that if you put them on warm toast they melt. I have the Galle & Jessen brand's dark chocolate, and they are to die for. I've read the European chocolate tastes better than American. Whoever said that was right.

Another delicious, chocolatey treat is Kex. It is a candy bar that you can quite easily find in Denmark. It reminds me of a Kit Kat. It's chocolate-covered wafers, and it is super yummy. In fact, I think it may be even better than the Kit Kat.

One thing that I will definitely miss when I go back to the states is hydeblomst (elderberry) beer. It is very popular here in Denmark, and for good reason. It has a sweet taste, inching toward too sweet but not quite hitting the point where you get sick of drinking it. It is amazing, and I am definitely a huge fan. If you ever come to Denmark, it is a must-have. So far, Ciderman's has been my favorite.

Fløbolle is a very popular Danish treat. It is a chocolate-covered meringue with a cookie at the base. Those of higher quality have a layer of marzipan in them as well. You can find them all over Copenhagen, but you should definitely get one from a chocolatier for the best experience. Although I find them a bit too sweet, most people love them (my roommates included), and they are another must on the list of Danish experiences. Also, they look so gorgeous!

All in all, eating in Copenhagen is a treat in and of itself.
